The manufacturing process of Plastic Lotion Bottle

【Summary Description】Plastic lotion bottles can be classified by plastic material into PE blow bottles (softer, mostly solid colors, one-time molding), PP blow bottles (harder, mostly solid colors, one-time molding), PET bottles (good transparency, mostly used for toner and hair products, environmentally friendly material, secondary molding), and PETG blow bottles (better brightness than PET, but not commonly used in China due to high cost, one-time molding, non-recyclable material).

Bottle body: The PP and ABS bottle bodies are mostly in solid colors. The PETG material and acrylic bottles mostly have transparent colors, giving a semi-transparent effect. The acrylic bottle walls are mostly painted with colors, which can reflect light and have a good effect.
Lotion bottle printing: The bottle body can be screen-printed, hot-stamped, or silvered. The inner cover of the double-layer cap can be screen-printed, and the outer cover can be transparent. The shell is made of anodized aluminum and can be embossed with logos.

Airless bottle + pump head cap (serum bottle, toner bottle, lotion bottle)

The injection-molded airless bottle body is usually made of AS material, which can directly come into contact with the paste, without a straw, and has a vacuum design. It is equipped with a pump head (electroplated) and a cover (transparent solid color).

Manufacturing process: The bottle body is mostly made of transparent material, while solid colors are less frequently used.

Printing: The bottle body can be screen-printed, hot-stamped, and silver-embossed.

  1. Bottle blowing (for essence bottles or lotion bottles, toner bottles) (Production equipment: Blow molding machine)

Understand the blow molding process

Lotion bottles are classified by plastic material as follows: PE blow bottles (softer, mostly in solid colors, one-time molding), PP blow bottles (harder, mostly in solid colors, one-time molding), PET bottles (good transparency, mostly used for toner and hair products), which are environmentally friendly materials, one-time molding), PETG blow bottles (brightness is better than PET, but not commonly used in China, high cost, one-time molding, non-recyclable materials). Combination forms: blow bottle + inner stopper (commonly used for PP and PE materials) + outer cover (commonly used for PP, ABS, acrylic, also electroplated, anodized aluminum, mostly used for inkjet toner) or pump head cover (commonly used for essence and lotion), + thousand-year lid + flip cover (the flip cover and the lifting cover are mostly used in large-scale distribution cosmetics lines).

Bottle blowing production process:

Bottle body: The bottle bodies made of PP and PE materials are mostly in solid colors. Those made of PETG, PET, and PVC materials are mostly transparent, or colored and transparent, giving a semi-transparent effect. Solid colors are rarely used. PET material bottle bodies also offer the option of color printing.

Printing: Screen printing, gold stamping, silver stamping.

  1. Emulsion bottle pump head

The dispensing machines are divided into two types: the tape-tying type and the spiral type. Functionally, they are classified as spray, cream, lotion pumps, aerosol valves, and vacuum bottles.

The size of the pump head is determined by the diameter of the accompanying bottle. The spray size is 12.5mm – 24mm, and the water output is 0.1ml per time – 0.2ml per time. It is generally used for packaging products such as perfumes and gel water. The length of the same nozzle can be determined according to the height of the bottle.

The specifications of the emulsion pump range from 16ml to 38ml, with water output ranging from 0.28ml per time to 3.1ml per time. It is commonly used in face creams and cleansing products.

Vacuum bottles are usually cylindrical in shape, with specifications ranging from 15ml to 50ml, and some even up to 100ml. The overall capacity is relatively small. They work by relying on the principle of atmospheric pressure to prevent contamination of cosmetics during use. Vacuum bottles come in anodized aluminum, electroplated plastic, and colored plastic. Their prices are higher than those of other common containers, and there are no strict requirements for the order quantity.

  1. PP material is commonly used (for production machines: injection molding machines). The outer ring is also covered with anodized aluminum casing and is treated with electroplating. It can also be gold-plated and silver-plated.

According to the functions of the bottle body:

A. Airless bottle pump head, without straw, + lid

B. The pump head of an ordinary bottle requires a straw. + With a lid or without a lid.

According to the function of the pump head

A. Lotion bottle pump head (suitable for liquid contents such as emulsion, body wash, shampoo)

B. Spray pump head (suitable for water-based contents, such as sprays, toner)

According to appearance

A. The pump head of the emulsion bottle has a cover, which serves as protection. (This is more suitable for products with a relatively small capacity, up to 100ml or less.)

B. The pump head without a cover is specially designed and can be locked. The contents will not leak due to squeezing, providing protection and making it convenient to carry. It also reduces costs. (Priority is given to products with larger capacity.) For products over 100ml, such as shower gel and shampoo used in the daily chemical production line, pump heads often adopt an unenclosed design.

According to the production process

A. Electroplated pump head

B. Anodic oxidation aluminum pump head

C. Plastic pump head
